In Support of Biodiversity
Planet Earth is Facing a Climate and Biodiversity Loss Crisis.
Human-related activity and land-use remain the biggest threats to wild animals and plants, destroying or degrading their natural habitats. In the not-so-distant future, however, it will be climate change that will drive biodiversity loss. We are already seeing the effects of rising temperatures, including species extinction.
The 2024 “Living Planet” report by the World Wildlife Fund and the Zoological Society of London confirms that nature is on a downward trajectory. According to the latest data, wildlife populations have shrunk by 73% over the last fifty years, jeopardising entire ecosystems and creating tipping points i.e. moments of rapid and potentially irreversible change.
It is absolutely essential that we reverse the trend of biodiversity loss, and it is possible with strategic and system-wide action. We at Nature Vanguards are partnering with conservation and animal welfare organisations globally to enhance the protection of endangered species, improve the enforcement of anti-poaching legislation and identify innovative solutions to issues such as human-wildlife conflict and habitat destruction. The more people become aware and support initiatives such as these, the greater positive impact we will have.
